So Christmas went off with a quiet warmness that I always appreciate. I don't do the whole thing, I sing carols and plan visits, sometimes make candy but I was unusually solemn and tired this year, so not much happened. I spent the holiday with my hubby in a wonderful little place he's sitting with a woodstove. I appreciate all the time I got with him. It was great.
And now.......
It is soooo cold. I have had my share of -40F but that is the daytime temp roght now. This thermometer photo was taken when I got home from work about 7pm. AHHHHKKKK! This will be my first -60F winter. I'm worried about the car. I'm generally uncomfortable travelling on the roads. It is just wild. The cold amplifies sound so that little noises seem much louder, (particularly car sounds to me) and that makes things unfamiliar and strange. I heard a train whistle at work today.... I never hear train whistles there! I am appreciating that I have heat, I have plants, I have light. Holy cow, I can't believe this cold! Of course my climatized skin doesn't feel it so much as my legs through my pants! Anyway, it is expected that the cold remains for the next few ......... weeks! I will have some time off, for my sanity, but I don't know how great it'll be with no outside activity like this. Beautiful tree! WOW that's cold!!!! Dang, don't know how you do it! Love ya! Oh- by the way, your cabin DOES look very warm with those lights illuminating from the windows- how cozy!
Happy New Year! That really sounds cold especially since I have been waiting for winter and not really experienced it. I love that you have a haven of blooming plants in that weather. What a little piece of heaven. ( I am jealous of your hubby time)
